The Handyman project was created to bring you the finest in do-it-yourself web edutainment.  Nothing brings us greater satisfaction than to pass on the tricks and shortcuts to build projects in record time, without having to purchase a garage full of expensive tools.

If we were to sum up the fundamental impulse of the project, we’d have to say that it exists to demonstrate that with a little bit of foresight, a moderate amount of focus, and hefty doses of practice, you can achieve something amazing.

It doesn’t matter if you want to learn a little or a lot, we want this to be your go-to place for craftsmanship.

 
About the Shop
It’s more than just a garage.

While you don’t need an “S” on your chest to do these projects, you do need your own fortress of solitude.  A place where you can retreat from the mindless chatter and the matterless banter, and focus your thoughts on what you want to do and how you’re going to accomplish it.  Whether it’s a spare room, a separate building on your lot, or a carved corner of the family garage, the Shop is a relatively secure spot with minimal interruption, free from distractive (and possibly destructive) voices:  the nagging of relatives, dire predictions of political pundits, and the mind-numbing merry-go-wheel of tragicomic-reality-drama cable programming.  It’s a spot where we can tune in to our creative, constructive side.  Because nothing else helps shimmy out from under the weight of doubt, disappointment and despair like building something from scratch.

Armed only with your hands, some tools and your lumpy gray bowl o’ noodle, you’re about to find out how to become handy.

So, get yer keester off the couch or out of the barkalounger.  Crack your knuckles in anticipation.  Download your free Handyman project plans and cut schedules.  Then, jump in your overalls or leisure suit, open the door (if you’ve got a tiny apartment, it can be an imaginary door, ‘cause it’s just a metaphor anyway), and commence to constructing.
